Marlin 39 and Lyman 17A question

by Bryan Pettet @, Thursday, June 16, 2016, 16:25 (3070 days ago)

I would like to do some cowboy silhouette shooting with my Marlin 39. I'm adding a Williams Foolproof rear peep to it. For front sight, I'm going with a Lyman 17A but which sight height do I need? In Brownells I see the heights as .465", .494", .584" and .854". I would be getting a set of Lee Shaver inserts also.

Which front sight height should I go with? Lowest?

I think I went with the 494" height Lyman. I used the William Rear and it had PLENTY of adjustment.
I also used the Shafer Inserts, but to be legal(NRA rules) you can only use a post front insert.

Also, go ahead and get the merrit adj appature.

Thanks. I'm not seeing that aperture on Brownells? NT

Bryan:

I think you can buy them from Merit directly.

I dealt with them a few years ago. They are nice folks.

Measure the issue sight and get the one that is the same or
