The Death Of Intelligence On The Internet.

I was introduced to the Internet around 1995 when my employer installed computers & went online. The employees (who were mostly computer illiterate) were encouraged to become acquainted with the computers during down time & explore the Internet. Of course we were instructed to avoid certain types of web-sites, etc.

Personally I had no desire to use the computers. That is until I learned that the Internet also had information available on subjects that interested me. Such as sites like this one. Suddenly the Internet seemed like the world's largest library to me, with endless amounts of information available for the digging. Those were heady days & my knowledge base increased by multiples.

Over the last several years, it seems to me that the quality of information available on the Internet has declined immensely. I attribute this decline to the introduction of the "smart phone". Now just about anyone with a lukewarm IQ can spew their nonsense onto the Internet. The Internet was a far more intelligent experience back when the only access was through a pricey computer.

I find myself becoming more & more disgusted with the Internet & I frequent far fewer sites. I have been "un-plugging" from the Internet & returning to good old fashioned books for intelligent information.

Just felt like unloading a bit of frustration....

Thanks

more "watered down" than declined

I still find good stuff on the internet, it just takes a lot more searching and sifting through the noise to find it.
