Experience with the Ruger SR1911?
I've been pondering the next 1911 purchase. I was looking at the SR1911...most likely the lightweight commander. What are the experiences here with Ruger 1911s?

Watch the video below... We took 20+ Ruger LWt Commanders
through a Gunsite course... almost flawless, some of them had a slight two operation in the thumb safety that wore in after a day of shooting. I have bought 3 of these for my employees. I think it is the best value on the market right now.

Nice. I might sell my new 38 Super to get one. NT

Ditto in our shop. We've sold about two dozen......
.......and everyone is thrilled with their purchase and subsequent performance. Great bang for your buck, and no Series 80 nonsense to contend with.

Good to hear. NT

I gave all mine to my employees. Matt Boge and John K
bought their guns, I am sure there will be plenty to look at ... those three fine men bought our shop manager his LWt Commander ...

I've been completely happy with my commander....
I've been very impressed and happy with my commander. It is EXTREMELY well made and well fitted, and incorporates outstanding features for the money.... And you know how picky I am
Rob, can I go to work for you?
Rob you must be a great boss.
Yes, I am and yes you are! Thx. NT

I picked up the SR1911 a bit after it came out.
When I found the Commander version for a decent price, I bought it and figured I was done with 1911's. Then, Ruger announced the Light Weight Commander. Haven't bought one....yet. VERY happy with the steel versions at hand. The straight MSH feels just a tad 'different' in my hand. I have thoughts about changing it to an arched version but have not done so...yet.
(Hint: Hoot's very first handgun was a SA 1911-A1. He still has it, as well as a couple others.)
Get in line Bub. Get in line.
Absolutely love mine, but I have the full size. Have even
Had two friends that shot mine go out and buy one the next week (they got the lightweight commander and standard commander) after shooting all three I still like the full size but the lightweight isn't nasty to shoot or anything.
Huh...guess no one likes it. :) Thx all! NT

Hoot, I'm a flat MSH fan, so I may have an arched MSH laying around. If I do, would you put it to use?
Quite likely.
One of my (many) 'round tuits' has been to swap MSH's betwixt the SA and the Ruger, preferably at the range so I can do head to head comparisons. Assuming I like the results, Brownells has arched MSH's with a straight checker like the Rugers, which I like.
I'll drop you a note in a bit.
Thanks!
Quite likely.
I bought one of the flat bottomed firing pin retainers to try out. I was going to swap it at the range to give a good head to head comparison. That was two to three wars ago; I have no idea where that FP retainer went to!!
I'll see what I can find for you this afternoon. I've probably got a blues one and I'm near positive I have a stainless one as well

They are excellent. None of mine are for sale. I particularly like my Lwt. Cmdr.
Nice. Sounds like everyone that has one loves it. NT

I have one SR1911 steel Commander I will never sell:
I used this at a 3 day Gunsite course in 2014 This was Ruger plant manager, Jim Elliott's (Retired) personal gun he raffled for the benefit of the fallen 19 hotshots... Simply Rugged bought a lot of tickets,,, we won this and another Ruger Commander that was added to the pot...damn tough way to get a pistol...
