You had to bring up "smelting day"
Got the itch to go scrounging. Scored 6 five gallon buckets this past weekend. Rough sampling looks to be about 10% zinc with a few iron. That's a lot of zinc! I always just slow and low heat to about 660 degrees using thermometer and skim zinc ww away with the clips. With so many zinc I may presort somewhat.
Hah..you're welcome! I'm not finding good sources...
at all. However, I might have a new client that is a global metal and recycling company. You better believe I'm asking them!

How / where do you score so much booty, if I may ask.

Half a bucket from independent service station no charge. A full sealed box, maybe twenty pounds from chain tire store. He smiled when he handed it to me and said think about him when I needed new tires. Half bucket from local western auto. The rest came from a large independent very large tire store that does a lot of work for fleet trucks. Those cost thirty bucks per bucket. She offered to call me from time to time when she had a pile. All together just shy of six full buckets. Middle Georgia. I did draw blanks from about a dozen others.
I started picking through to cull the zinc but too much trouble. Going to just go slow with the heat and pay attention to thermometer.
Nice...I was "offered" WW for $2/lb. No thanks. NT
