How hard will it be for the government to come up with a way to de-activate everybody's smart gun when they so choose? If we are ever hit with an EMP guess what? Your gun won't work! Not smart - dumb gun, not smart gun!!

even if traditional designs quit being manufactured en masse, there are more than enough to last several lifetimes, perhaps an eternity. I don't need or want one.

Same here. Mine isn't large but large enough that I won't be hurting or even my sons.

If I may make a couple of relevant (and agreeing?) observations...

--If, in the free market, there is a desire for "smart gun" technology and the subsequent demand, I say, "Let 'er buck!"

--Of course, I detest government, especially federal government, mandating that the American consumer must buy a particular product or that an American manufacturer must produce a particular product, whether it be firearms or insurance or whatever.

I think mandating them is next best thing to disarming us

Until ammo is Wi-Fi enabled, it's still a mechanical device and can be made to work on demand.

Mandate all you want. As I told my Son-in-Law...
