They put it up on Gunbroker, I bid the minimum to get it going for them, but have no interest in it. Nice piece, a little freckly but that should clean up well. Shows very little use.

Wow. When did a fixed sight S&W K-frame .38 become a $550.00 gun? Most of our LGS have a bunch of them sitting on the shelves collecting dust. Everyone wants the latest and greatest plastic autoloader these days.

You haven't looked around the S&W market much the last few year I guess. Seems like all S&W revolvers have gone batty, Hwy Patrolman that 6-7 years ago would have brought $250-300 now fetch north of $750. Real classic stuff like 4" 5 screw 29s get well over $2500 if they are in clean condition. 4" 1950 44sp Target Models go $4000-5000, the list goes on and on for what were once unloved wheel guns.

Yes the kids all want black guns but the older gentlemen with money still want all of those revolvers...

Very well put. Up through about 2003, I wouldn't pay more than $450 for any N frame. I still bought a bunch including some really choice ones (for shooting of course). In '03 or '04 I picked up a nickel Model 58, in original box for $250.00. I'm not a lover of nickel and at the time didn't appreciate the .41. I sold it in a week (I think to Andrew if I recall correctly) and doubled my money and was tickled to death. I had a buddy pick up a Model 27, blued 3.5" factory engraved (max coverage is that C?)at the same auction I got the 58 for the princely sum of $850.00. Wish those days were here now with my current income.

It wan't me, but I did bird dog it for a buddy in Fairbanks.

Bill sent it back to S&W and had it re-nickeled. I think he moved it on to finance some other project, probably the N. Korean PPSH he has now.
