Review on Browning Leverage .22 & looking for Rascal price..
A younger friend of mine is facing a long haul with cancer, including upcoming stem cell treatment.Took the Browning out his house and pond to swin the dogs and have shoot the Browning. Well, he loves it, and I said I'd track down another one..Welll...I can't find one for much less than 200$, soooo..I'm going to give him an extended loan on this one. He cansit at his front porch picnic table and shoot out to a hundred yards over his pond. Easy to 'range targets'. he was hitting stuff right and left. Throwing in a screw thread adjustable rifle rest, for the nonce. He'll take good care of it, and will provide him with 'recovery incentive' to get out the doors, after the stem cell ordeal. He can practice cocking that 'cannon' all summer long. ;~`)
Since several folks have recommended Savage Rascal .22's, and I already have the quiet rimfires, Ill go with one of those....What would be helpful is finding one at that 130 - 150 dollar level...so if you trip over one at that "$138.00" sale price that was going around, kindly drop a pointer to it.
Thanks, John

Well you made me look. Hadn't paid too much attention when you first posted about picking up that Browning Leverage. Turns out they are built by Hatsan (an up and coming Turkish manufacturer) and use a Gamo style trigger group - which means that there should be no problem fitting a "Charlie da Tuna" GRT III trigger to it. You got a killer deal on it, by the way.
A bit of digging hasn't turned up anything anywhere near what you paid. Then it occurred to me - you're looking for a Savage Rascal for that kind of money, not another Browning Leverage, correct?
looking for Rascal price..
Yes, that;s it. I enquired with the retailer who was handling the Air Funs in a small sorting goods dept, , to try and find another one. None in the system anywhere, and not going to re-stock. My price was so good because it was 50% off plus some other in-store incentives -- going out the door for 60$. Around 200.00 plus, is the least I can find now.
I figure Mike can handle the airgun now, and after his bout with chemo, etc, can still sit on his front porch and shoot. He works the cocking/loading routine just fine, now. I haven't mounted the scope yet, but it has more reticles that a German sniper rifle. ;~`)
At any rate, after a long discourse elsewhere as to why I didn't want to use CB colibri's, I'm now thinking that I just have to be more selective on the background -- when shooting for fur. Soo..while I have I have .22's to do so, I really like the compact nature and easy top-loading of the littleSavage. Plus is, when we move East up in Pennsy, my Tactical shooter Nephew in law will have a grand niece just the right size for the l'ill popper. with different sale and incentives at the Big Stores, I should be able to snag one for around 140, or so.
Appreciate your air-knowledge and interest, wishing you some very satisfactory quiet varminiting. with that very fine Air-pole you have there.

that I saw was $180 with free shipping from Amazon dot com - in .177 caliber. The 22 was almost $20 more.
I've seen pics of those Rascals, haven't had a chance to play with one yet. My favorite "get 'er done" singleshot is an old Winchester 67 cut down by Rich Hoch and fitted with an old Mossberg 4X scope. Nice, light, compact, handy. Gonna have to try and track down one of those Rascals one of these years when we're up north.

that's similar to my findings...."Shocked, just shocked!", he said. me-doubts that'll happen again! ;~`) Prob'ly used up my lifetime alotment of 'gun luck'.
Stop! Thief!
You definitely made out like a bandit on that one. :)
Stop! Thief! ;~`0 ONCE IN A VEY LONG WHILE....

I'm kind a late here, and it sounds like you found...
what you were looking for, all that being said, I have a Beaman .177 caliber air rifle you can have for the tyke if you're still looking for something. There's nothing wrong with it. Not sure of the model, but if you're interested, I can let you know. I'm assuming I can just mail one of these?
It was give to me(can't remember when) and I don't fool with these things, I think there's a can of pellets with too, you can have those also.
Maybe if you can afford a few bucks to reimburse for mailing that would be fine...or not...I won't go hungry either way.
went through that meself...not my idea of a fun time.

You know, I think that would be ideal...Mike can get the 'bit gun' for part of his cancer rehab program, and I can still pot the occasional sqwill with an item wht will shoo to the sights. Be more than happy to re-imburse yo for the trouble -- pleas send y'r contact phone and addy to me at marshgrrl@gmail.com. [marshgrrl was in honor of out first chessie, who never saw water without making a chance to enter it, and roll in it, and it share it with the humans.

Either I'm completely inept (quite possible) or my machine won't send email to you (not quite as possible).
So...just click on the little envelope thingy in my post and email me the name and address where you want it sent. It'll be a few til I get it out to you/him...whomever.
you can reimburse me if you want when you get it...or not...no biggy.
