Anyone shooting .480 Ruger in a rifle?
The Puma lever gun and Ruger #1 are the only options I'm aware of. Kelly Brost had a #1 in .475 Linebaugh from Gary Reeder that I shot a good bit. That's my only personal experience with this.
I've read the reviews at Gunblast. Any other experience out there?
Or 454 Casull in a rifle? NT

I bought a No.1 a few years ago.
I have a scoped No1 and wanted an iron sighted one for hunting. I really wanted a 450/400 but I knew feeding that would be really expensive, so I bought a .475 Linebaugh. In reality I've shot it so little I could have gotten the 450/400. I hunted with it two years ago and it's due for this year's rotation as well. I like it. It'll do anything I'm likely to ask of hit. Has a punch but not abusively so like my .45-70 marlin.
Nice report. I like the idea of combos...
and if 2 is good then 3 might be better. Scoped #1s with peep sighted lever guns and iron sighted handguns and all in the same caliber to simplify things. That covers all of my scenarios well.

Have a Browning High-Wall in 454 with tang sight, have used it for primitive weapon season a few times.
I forgot about the Browning. Nice rifles. NT

I have a Ruger #1 in 475 Linebaugh and Cannon has a lever action 480. If you're going to be at CSA both could probably come with us.
That would be excellent.
Thanks for the offer to see them. What do you think of them in general?
My other No.1 is a .243 International. Scoped.
But I like it so much and find it so handy, I always thought I'd like an iron sighted one to hunt with as well.
For me what I hunt with is more important that if I get anything. I like hunting with old hunting rifles and single shots.
Though my eyes are betraying me and a few of them will probably go down the road. Seems my scoped guns will see more use.
That would be excellent.
I'm very happy with the #1, although I'll probably lengthen the chamber to .475 Maximum at some point to match a revolver. The 480 is one of the Puma lever actions and to my knowledge has performed flawlessly.
That's good to know. Thx. You have a custom Max? NT

Yes, it's a Bowen .475 max. I'm not sure I have much ammo loaded for it, but it will probably be at CSA also.
Max's are cool. Don't see many of them. NT

It's a good gun to shoot once...
Just to say you have done it,
I've never had a desire for a max project...
although the belted 458 max project done by Bowen for Seyfried was interesting.
Really regret missing out on the .480 Puma's.
I always had the thought I'd get one "some day" and now it's too late.
Bro' Dan has the No. 1 in .475 but I have not heard a thing on it.
I would like a #1 and a Puma/Rossi in 480 if I can find one.
Have barely missed a couple lately but there just aren't that many I think to go around.

There was a Number 1 .475 at the Cabelas near you a while back. The price was fair and I probably should have picked it up.
I was there last week and didn't see a #1...
gun library search doesn't show it. Might be gone.
