Talk to me about your fav .32s...
and I'm not talking about ACP! H&R mag, 32 S&W, 32-20, 327 Federal...it's all good.
SAs, DAs, kit guns, Browning 53s and other lever guns...they are all interesting and fun.
What do you have and like to shoot in .32?
I'm without one currently but would love to change that. I definitely want a Bisley in 32. A Ruger SP101 in 327 Federal is the cat's meow. The FA97 would be very nice in 327 Federal...or maybe extra cylinders to cover the bases. If your piggybank is big enough, the K32s are incredible. I've owned a couple of nice Browning 53s and sold them both. Ack.
I have a few
Pair of Marlin 1889's in 32-20, one 26" and one 28". Both have been relined due to pitted chambers and bores:
Then there are the two OM Ruger 30C's with 32-20 cylinders by Andy Horvath:
Also have one of the Buckeye specials in 32-20 and 32 H&R:
All are great shooters.
Nice. NT

The 32 SWL Taurus I traded for to give to my wife back in Brazil was a sweet little popper. 6 rounds with a 4" barrel and adjustable sights, it was a great little kitgun. Wish we had one like it again.
What happened to that one? NT

Talk to me about your fav .32s...
I've got a set of Bisley Single-Six 32's, big Bisley grip frame fits my hand nicely and the smaller single six frame is just right for the 32 Magnum cartridge, a bunch of soft shooting little poppers, but does anyone know if the RB-32A model (Adjustable sights, fluted cylinder) was really ever made by Ruger or not? I've never seen one, but the RB-32 and RB-32W make a nice "mis-matched" pair of pistols.
I also have a S&W 631 4" kit gun that is really fun to shoot, and an old pimped out I frame (nickel finish with factory pearl grips). Don't shoot that one yet as it's in 32 Long, not 32 Magnum.
Would love to have one of the S&W kit guns...
they're just spicy.

.32-20 WCF -- A Colt Police Positive Special, a Marlin 1894, and a custom S&W NewModel 16 rechambered from .32 H&R Magnum to 32-20.
.32 H&R Magnum -- A S&W Model 631 Super-Kitgun (4" barrel & adjustable sights), a Ruger Super-SingleSix, and a Ruger SP101 (3" barrel & windage adjustable sights)
.32 S&W Long -- Several H&R revolvers of various kinds, barrel lengths, and sights and a Colt Police Positive technically chambered in Colt New Police.
.32 S&W -- A few Saturday Night Specials, some still operating.
.32 Long Colt -- Two Colt Police Positives.
.32ACP -- These are NOT second class .32's as far a I am concerned. Several semi-autos including a pre-WW2 Walther PPK and a WW2 era Mauser HSc.
The very first handgun I ever fired and also the first centerfire I ever fired was the Police Positive Special in 32-20. It belonged to my father. I later was able to buy an H&R with a side-swing cylinder, a pencil-thin 4" barrel, and a windage adjustable sight, and used hot-loaded handloads. Killed a lot of legally designated pests with that one. The only cartridges I have shot for a longer period of time are .22 rimfires.
Interesting list of .32s...
the rechambered S&W 16 caught my eye. Also your list of .32 H&R Magnum is what I would like to have.
Hey, ACPs are always cool in a PPK. I prefer .380 and up but they have their uses.
Talk to me about your fav .32s...
For 32-20 rifles I have a mint condition Remington 25R carbine that's smaller than most 22's, a Browning medel 53, an original Winchester 92 takedown rifle, and a Savage 23B with vintage straight tube Wollensak scope.
Handguns there is a 4 inch S&W model 16 in 32 H&R, a Ruger Bisley in 32 H&R, a 5.5 inch Ruger Single Six 32 H&R, a 4.625 inch Ruger Single Six in 32 H&R, a Freedom Arms 6 inch model 97 in 32-20 and 32 H&R, a Ruger 5.5 inch Single Seven, and last but not least a Ruger Buckeye in 32-20 and 32 H&R.
I like 32's. They're fun to shoot, accurate, economical, with enough power to be useful. ..
Hmmm, lesee here...
.32 S&W "Short": Couple of old Owl's Heads/I-J Safety Hammer, Uberti 1849 Wells Fargo w/conversion cylinder
.32 S&W Long: S&W Regulation Police(?) I-frame, Benelli MP 95E Wadcutter pistol, Martini Cadet
.32 H&R Mag: S&W M-432PD, Ruger Single Sixes in 4-5/8-short grip "Vaqurito", 5-1/2 & 9-1/2-standard grip, Ruger SP-101 3-1/16
.32 H&R Mag/.32-20: Ruger Blackhawk "Buckeye"
.327 Fed Mag: Ruger SP-101 3-1/16
.32 ACP: Kel-Tec P-32, Savage 1907, "Ruby" style Spanish
.32 Black Powder: Traditions "Deerhunter" rifle (as well as the original cylinder for the Wells Fargo)
Pretty sure that's it...
Nice, nice, nice...
the Cadet rechamber is super cool.
Great list. Favorites?
Love it but you forgot the best looking one you have...
Favorites? That's tough.
I have been spending a bit of time lately with the Martini. It was a bit of a rat when I bought it. Now, it's a bit of a rat with cool sights! I need to shorten and bed the forearm as well as strip and refinish all the wood. I'm pretty sure it wants to shoot but the wobbly grip on the front end doesn't help.
The Wells Fargo is cuter than a bug's ear but the barrel bore doesn't match up well to a .312" projectile. Still fun.
The Buckeye's are silly heavy pistols. Shooting standard grade .32H&R's out of them is a real non-event. If'n it didn't make noise, you'd never know it fired. I've fired some, uhhh, 'above book' loads in that. I don't really know how fast they're moving but I'd guess 'screaming' might be about right.
The Benelli is a very demanding pistol. I had a terrible time producing a load which would feed and shoot reliably. It will, however, reward you with some very fine groups when it gets figured out.
I like all the H&R's although the light weight S&W can be a bit rude at times.
In the interest of honesty, I'd have to admit to never having fired the .327 FM. No good excuse, just haven't got there yet.
I have shot the Owl's Heads with a smattering of black powder under a light bullet. A bit of work to build cartridges but a sure case of the giggles when fired.
How's that for a non-answer?
Stayed down there. nt

I don't have much in 32, but do enjoy the 32/20 cartridge. The only arms I have so chambered are a rough looking Colt Police Positive Special w/ 5" bbl. that came from a local sheriff office. It had been the gun they issued to new hires until they could purchase their own sidearm. The other is a Remington M25 pump that I have taken a few squirrels with and am thinking about trying on deer at some point.
Modern loads do well in the Marlins & Buckeye
One 32-20 load with Lyman 311419GC clocked 1645 fps from the Marlin 28" and 1365 fps from the Buckeye Special and shoot better than I can. Most of what I shoot are in the 900-1000 fps range.
Interesting list of .32s...
I got the S&W K-frame specifically in order to convert it. That was before they became collectors items. I already had the J-frame 631. That is the right size for the .32 Magnum. The K-frame is too big for the 32 Magnum. I had always wanted a 32-20 with tight tolerances and target sights. After about 30 years of not finding one, I decided to make one. I have had it for about 20 years now and it is everything I wanted.
Very cool. I figured it wasn't a recent conversion. NT

I love hearing your thoughts because...
it gives me insight into guns I haven't owned yet. It increases my curiosity on some that I hadn't paid much attention to.
It's interesting that you haven't shot the one I'm most interested in (327) because you are having fun with the others. Gives me pause for thought. Good stuff.
32 Mag Ruger SP-101 3-1/16
Is that the one I shot back in '08?
Thanks for the kindness.
Tell you what, I'll throw the 327 in the pile headed to CSA and we can both try it out!
You drive a HARD bargain. I accept. :) NT

Yep, one in the same.
Funny, I was remembering your visit here just this morning. I didn't recall that we shot the SP-101 but it wouldn't surprise me much; it was a favorite of Miss Beth. However, I DO recall the search for the Taurus .44 Special after shooting yours!
wow ! you are set ! nice !
You're right, I forgot to put that one on the list...
The best looking one of all!!
Talk to me about your fav .32s...
I have several and they are among my favorites:
Ruger Bisley .32 H&R with a 6-1/2 inch barrel
Ruger SP101 .32 H&R with 4 inch barrel (one of my favorite woods walking carry pistols)
S&W K-frame .32-20 with a 6 inch barrel
Browning Lo-Wall in .32 H&R (rebored from a .22 Hornet)
Marlin Model 94CL in .32-20
Martini Cadet in .310 Cadet (a true .32 - shoots a .321 heeled bullet)
Remington 141 in .32 Remington (Buffalo Bore loads ammo for these in .30 Remington cases)
And the clunker of the group - CZ Model I can't remember in .32 ACP. It's as big or bigger than a Colt Commander, with the worst trigger pull I've ever experienced on a handgun.
These are all a ball to shoot and I've laid in enough .32 H&R and .32-20 brass and cast bullets that I don't have to worry about feeding any of these (except the CZ) for the rest of my days.
Life in .32 land is grand.
I had a chance to shoot a tool room sample at Raton
of Ruger's Single Seven in 327... I really liked it! Lite and powerful, flat shooting yet controllable... I wish I had one as a kid roaming around the hills here in Northern AZ.

They are all cool but I think that's the prettiest. NT

That's a nice mix...
the Low Wall is different. Sounds nice.
Love your collection.
.32 is one of my favorite subjects.
I have a small pile of them from .32 ACP-327. That list includes a 1895 Nagant revolver, and I include my cadet in that.
You drive a HARD bargain. I accept. :) NT
You really don't need to bring guns with you, now do you?
I'd love to find a S&W 32 Long with adjustable sights.
I can't remember the model number of that one and my Standard Catalog is buried in storage.
My daughter and I shot a couple of Jared and Katherine's 32's when we were there to visit Texas A&M. back in what 2003? We loved them.
Mark
I just cleaned all the guns I'm bringing...
took me hours. Now I just need to load a bunch of ammo.
I've got the S&W catalog handy. Remember any more about that model?
Small pile he says...
I think you have a great selection of .32s and some nice custom ones too. Can't wait to see them in person.
I'm not certain...
Asking Jared would be the best idea. Heck, my memory doesn't last walking from the house to the shop. I get out there and look around wondering "Now what did I come out here for?"
Honestly, it might have been an I-Frame model or a K. It was too cool for school to shoot I know that much!

S&W model #'s
a K frame with target sights in 32 Long is usually referred to as a K32 masterpiece, model number would be the model 16. The re-introduction in the 80's as the model 16-4 was in 32 magnum. The I & J-frame 32-long is very rare with target sights, and became the model 31.
Naaaw, Jared's pistols are all junk.
Now, Kathryn's pistols, on the other hand, are NICE!
You're right of course. I was off in my thinking. NT

isnt that how it normally works?
The Nagant is the only one I can claim.
I've got a chance to get a friend's S&W 16-4...
have handled several but never owned one. They are interesting.
"These" people have been the death of me...
Now have a .32 H&R Single-Six, Marlin 1894CL .32-20, S&W 1905 4th change .32-20, Ruger Single-Seven .327 Federal. As to which is a favorite, that is hard to say but my current impression is that the Single-Seven doesn't live up to the cartridge's potential.

Sincerely,
Hobie
Nice selection. Curious about what you said...
not living up to its potential? Say more?
