Interesting bit of old time gunsmithing Track of the Wolf

Works great. My Tip Curtis early Virginia has the rear sight formed with one of these. It is not used on the front though as the raised portions intefere with the blade where it would be positioned over the formed dovetail.

I suppose one could file a couple of notches in the bottom of the front blade to compensate.
