Really interested in getting one but have heard mixed comments about RIA pistols and 9mm in a 1911 being unreliable. Wanting one for a range/play gun not serious carry etc, I have Les Baer 1911's for that.

Thanks,
Gunner

ROCK ISLAND, ONE SINGLE, ONE DOUBLE STACK.ALSO KIMBER, SPRINGFIELD, AND ARMSCOR; NEVER HAVE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY OF THEM. TOTALLY RELIABLE AND SHOOT WELL. JUST GIFTED WITH A 1964 LT WT COMMANDER COLT 9 BUT WEATHER TOO BAD TO SHOOT IT YET.

Anyone have or shot one of these......

I've had pretty good luck with them, but never fooled with one in 9mm. I rate the RIA's as good overall as entry level Springfields.

My first fullsize had a short chamber so I mailed them the barrel for reaming or replacement. They took care of it pronto and the gun was flawless for the rest of the time I had it. I've worked on several but it was invariably to cure detrimental user modifications.

dig around the 1911 pages at http://www.thesixgunjournal.net/ and you'll find some stuff on them.

Not really an answer, but Bro' Dan just picked up...

the Baby Rock (I think it's called) in .380. I don't think he's shot it much but likes it so far. It seemed a tad smaller than Melodie's Browning but I forgot to bring it along to compare.

Definitely file this in the FWIW folder.
