Bought a 3" Model 36 Smiff with a small issue

Now I think I can polish the electro penciling out and spot blue the front strap, but another part of me wants to just cover the wound with a Tyler T-grip and either add new grips or refinish the existing grips. In any case, I think I did okay price-wise. I've always wanted a 3" J-frame, but never found one at the right price. This one is sort of like our rescue dog and cats, diamonds in the rough.
Otony, who thinks Mama will appreciate the longer barrel and square butt.
I'm glad the fad of electrostenciling on guns went away
I doubt if it achieved its intended purpose. Every time I see one I think of Skeeter's story "Bustamonte, I hate you!"
Tyler-T and re-finish stocks, I love my 3" J-frames.

Yup, defacing a gun so it wouldn't be stolen.....
........seems like an odd thing to do. After all, there is a serial number, for goodness sake.
Still, I recognized this as a fairly easy repair or cover up, and I've wanted a 3" J-frame since reading Chic Ghaylord's book back around 1970 or so.
Otony
I cannot write Ghaylord without the H, as it is a forbidden word on this board!
Tyler-T and re-finish stocks, I love my 3" J-frames.
You and Chic Ghaylord are my inspiration, btw.
Otony
fortunately mine was a stainless Security Six but
On the side of the frame. I was able to polish it out when I realized it wasn't all that deep.
Yep! William Secrest ruin a K22 and a M28 that way
then stuffed em in cheap holsters and left em under his car seat for a couple years... I got the K22 and a pal got the M28 for a song...They both shoot great... But dang he ruined em...

That would clean up just fine. Might RB it while your at it. J.michael
former father in law pretty much ruined a Single Six
Similarly. Used it to run a trap line in a very ill fitting holster. Wore most of the blue off and the muzzle end of the extractor housing was even worn down!
My grandfather, cheap as he was, nearly ruined 4 guns
by leaving them untended in his attic for at least 35 years. One was a Parker SxS, another was an Ithaca Flues 20 ga. Also a Win 1906 and a Mossberg he had BORROWED but never returned.

I'd like to find some of those
I'd like to find some of the things on my wish list at half price due to some stenciling. I think I could fix that pretty quickly and it would be perfectly acceptable in a user.
