Is there a short list of gunsmiths that were installing J-Frame rear sights on Colt 1911's? Found this Series 70 Combat Commander .45 today. It also has a polished feed ramp, spur hammer, and a Micro barrel bushing. I couldn't pop it apart to see if it was signed inside. For the price and their generous layaway policy, I couldn't pass. Sorry that the picture stinks though.

With that front sight I would bet it was done at Behlerts. Early 80's J.Michael

Andrew, ya gotta post more pics of that gun when you get it home. Bet it's a real beauty, and if the work was well done I predict you are going to be very proud of your purchase.

The thing I like most about the modern polymer/DA/striker-fired/high-capacity pistols is that so many people are trading in their old-fashioned, heavy, unsafe, low-capacity 1911s for them. Then guys like you and I can pick up classic pistolas like that'n for reasonable prices......
