Anyone use this load? Thoughts? I'm thinking crows but haven't patterned yet.

I'll pattern these & depending on results try to lay some in. Do you shoot crows Rob?

I used too! Not allowed here in AZ, anymore. We mostly have

Pattern to get best choke for you. Otherwise, that has been a fine killing load for me, on general bird and small game

5's are hard to get around here. I think they would work great on crows. Full choke all the way down to mod will all give great results but as you know all guns are different. We have a ton od crows here but not a lot of places to hunt them. J.Michael

Used them on Sage Grouse in Wyoming. Did a fine job.

there are other dedicated pheasant loads

by bj @, Sunday, November 29, 2015, 19:20 (3285 days ago) @ Creeker

I think there are other dedicated pheasant loads with velocities 100 or more fps faster than that one.

Are crows as smart as I've read that they are? You start shooting them with a shotgun and pretty soon they get wise and you have to step up to a .22mag, then you go up to .222 or .223, then you are up to a .22-250.

Crows learn fast & I'm far from expert hunting them but

by Creeker @, Hardwoods, Sunday, November 29, 2015, 21:07 (3285 days ago) @ bj

one thing which works is to keep changing tactics. Too many repeats won't work. I have an electronic call. You need to begin on low volume, try to shoot the close crows first. Then increase volume till you get more coming if possible. After that you need to move. As I said I'm not expert & still learning.

Hard to find, but one of the best all-around shotgun loads. If I could get only one 12 gauge load for every purpose other than quail (what quail?) and doves, that would be it.

I buy #6 by the half-case at WallyWorld for general purpose use in all my house shotguns, but only because sixes are easier to find. I like the #5s much better.

Rain tomorrow so not hunting. Going to the range & shoot my muzzle loader a bit. Don't think I'll pattern the Ithaca unless the rain lays down for awhile.

Thanks guys for all the replies. Mr. Keith really liked 5 shot for the standard length 12ga. Seems you folks do also.:-)
