Standard Pressure 125 Grain 9mm Defense Ammo ???
by ~JM~, Tuesday, November 24, 2015, 13:29 (3291 days ago)
I know that most would prefer a caliber that starts with a 4 or even a 5, but I need some recommendations on a good 9mm standard pressure defense round.
Looking for a 125/24 grain or less round, that will usually feed reliably in a small autoloader & perform well from a 3" barrel.
Thank you

Hornady Critical Defense is, IIRC, standard pressure. It fed reliably from the Shield this summer.
I tested these out at Gunsite, I like em. Mike McNett's ammo

any standard pressure 9mm loads? I didn't see any, but don't ask my wife about my ability to find the obvious - or lack thereof...

Hornady Critical Defense is my choice in XD9C EDC and XDS9 backup carry (both 3"). Works fine and is accurate for me. I think there is a +P version so check the box for sure if you want standard.
Yep they do... sorry I just grabbed a link over there

I really like the 50 round box of Federal 115 grain JHP. standard velocity very good track record in actual shootings.

A few years ago I wandered into Cheaper than Dirt in McKinney Tx and discovered 15 boxes of the standard velocity Federal 115 JHP's (9BP) for $8.50 per box of 50. I asked if that was the correct price and the clerk said "I dunno, I guess so". Ran back for a shopping basket and bought all they had.I asked the checkout guy why it was so cheap and he said everybody wanted the +p and +p+ loads.
Youtube vid on above ammo...

Stocked up on them. Not as pricey as the 20 to a box stuff! I don't know if you all shop Palmetto State Armory but they have some great weekly specials on ammo (I get their emails). They have the Federal Fusion 223 for $9.99 a box right now. Paid over $20 for a box elsewhere.
