Flashlight update; what I ended up with in my latest quest..
I found a new/old stock Surefire D3 Defender for a song, then upgraded the fat end with modern luz-power and now have a (larger) 3 CR123 cell light with a bit over 400 lumens. It is not a pocket light, but I have a nice pouch for it as well. It is a top-quality light at a bargain price.
For pocket carry, I found an Olight S1 Baton that has several settings from "moonlight on up to a 500 lumen setting. It is a side clicker, but has no simple pressure-applied, blinding single-push setting, but is only a couple inches long and comes with a pocket clip. It is a handy little addition. Oh, and it has a magnet on the base and the clip allows you to attach it to the brim or bill of your headgear for a headlamp.
how big is the Olight ? i think i need one of those

It has been my most-used light ever since February 2014. I love it, has variable brightness settings of 5 Lumens / 85 Lumens / 400 Lumens, and battery life is good. I use it most often at the 85 setting, but the low and high settings are useful too. The magnet is STRONG, and really is handy. I would like a momentary tail cap switch, but that would add to the size and take away the magnetic cap, so I'm not fussing. It is a great light.
"Tools of the Trade" video...Somehow Imissed that one...thx!
