Looking for a small lockblade knife for my 8 year old

Cub Scout. I prefer folding knives that only fold when you want them to. The problem is he has trouble working the lock on a couple we have tried. Any ideas?
What type of lock is he having trouble operating?

Liner lock.
Axis lock?

Might be able to work one, but I don't know if they put them on anything you'd be willing to buy and 8 year old.
Yes cost (Losing it!) is an issue. May be a lost cause for

now. Won't let him carry a fixed blade knife either.
Dang. Problems with liner lock and back lock?

I think you need to let the young man grow "into" them a bit more.
I guess so. He might do better with a larger liner lock

But I don't want him having a bigger knife.

SOG makes some lower priced knives that have the old "Buck knife" style locking mechanism. The Axis lock is good too, and there some cheaper version of those on EBAY.

I have a few of the SOG Autoclip knives around here. THey are hard to beat for the price.
The one I posted above was the mini size, they come in a variety of sizes.

Tom, check out the Opinel knives. They are light, inexpensive but well made, and have a unique rotary lock that is very easy to manipulate. They come in several sizes. I have a No. 8 which has a 3 1/8 inch blade, but I believe there are others that are smaller.
The blade lock has to be turned to lock the blade after it is opened, but once engaged it is very positive and will not slip, but is very easy to rotate back to the unlocked position.
OPINEL!! Slipped my mind. Link inside.
