Tell me why I need one? Is there anything I can do with one I can't do with my mini 14. I have heard they have been discontinued.
Buy one.

Yes, they have been killed off by the corporate masters that own Remington and Marlin. Look for one that has an ejector for the spent case, not just an extractor.
I have a Buffalo Classic

about 5 years ago I bought a H&R Buffalo Classic in .45-70...
glad that I did... it is accurate... looks good and it was affordable considering the other single-shot options out there... and now... H&R is defunct.. I wonder if all the H&R's are gonna become collectors.
Scooping up all I can.

Just picked up a .223 with a 3-9x40 Redfield on it for $175.
Between Bro' Dan, Dad and Casa Hoot, there are a few NEF's.

Every single one of them and every other one we've tried, just plain shoots. If'n I had an itch, I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.
I found one in a yard sale...

Earlier this summer in 223 for $100. Have not had a chance to wring it out fully yet, but preliminary results are very promising with the first few groups all being an inch or less.
