Of the Troops & For the Troops
Hard to believe. Great fun, tho!
I'm going to build one someday, and carry it. For no other
...reason, than to be contrary.
Maybe it will be my 2016 project. - JM.
Lacking proper bullets.....
has hampered the use of mine but i have improvised with the Lee 325 gr., both using the gas check shank as a heel and loading it backwards.....the latest experiment has been a duplex projectile load of sorts with a .454" ball loaded over 13.5 gr. 2400 and fiber wad pushing out a .490" ball seated in the mouths with an arbor press in the manner of a cap-n-ball revolver.....if 318 grs. total weight over 13.5 grs. 2400 sounds too warm, keep in mind my achilles is built on a new model ruger.....the inhibiting factor in thoroughly enjoying my achilles, apart from not having the proper bullets is the question of how if ever i can replace the 2400 used.....
Always makes me smile.

Mountain Molds will make you a proper mold.
Just saying.
Haven't tried since around the new year 2006...
even though the heeled bullet feature was still available on the "length/height of gas check shank" drop-down tab of the design engine, after designing and ordering a mould that was similar to mister bittner's but heavier at around 320 gr, , i received and e-mail from the proprietor stating that he had discontinued the heeled bullet option and would not be filling my order.....
Drat. You are correct.
Now that I think about it, it's been longer than that since I had him make a mold for the .505 Achilles.
Remember the Seinfeld character.......
The soup nazi?........you had to had your hat in your hand with correct etiquette and deportment and diction and elocution to successfully order and receive your soup or you had to come back the next day......after reading some of the posts on the site's forum, i think it is perhaps that way with "mtngn", the moderator/proprietor.
When I ordered that first mold, you could just specify
the length of the GC shank. Then one day he discovered people were ordering heeled bullets and it must've offended him in some way.
