Moon clip tools.....

by bmize, Tuesday, September 15, 2015, 12:42 (3345 days ago)

I have been loaned a 25-5 to play with. Came with 6 half moon clips. They are so tight I feel like I am bending them getting the cases back out. What cheap/home made tools do you guys like? I really dont want to invest in a setup like Dillon sells.

Thanks

PVC or metal tube close to the shell diameter so it slips over the shell. Cut 1/2 the tube 1/8" down and make a step slide over the case the large part of the step will touch the moon clip and with a twist the shell will pop out. Hope I explained it well. J.michael

It's helpful to buy a small T joint and glue it to the end of the PVC pipe for more leverage. I know this from first-hand experience.

an Empty case works great... place case over bullet gives le

leverage...A screw driver works too. If the chambers are not too long, just shoot ACPs sans clip use a pencil to extract. or thumbnail

I just use the bottom end of a standard Sharpie marker inserted into the case. Gives you enough leverage to pull it right out.

Methinks he meant 25-2 though.

make tube long enough to hold six empties, small flatnose

pliers will snap tight cases in without bending, one jaw against outer case rim other jaw against inside edge of moon clip. keep all forces in the same plane as the moon clip to avoid bending.

You are correct, 25-2
