Piglet Leg Single Six

A little pawn shop crawling yesterday resulted in a 9 1/2" OM Single Six coming home with me. Crisp and tight mechanically, but very well holster worn. This might be the first gun I've ever had refinished since it's collector value is fairly low.

Nice! I like it as is. Or, "Shoot it first"

Nicest shooting Single-Six I've ever fired was Tony B's OM 6.5"er. Just perfectly regulated - hit everything right to sights, with excitingly boring regularity.

It has maybe 5%, generously, finish remaining, but it's such a magnificent shooter that any question of refinishing went right out the window.

That is character...and it has more finish left than my old SS...I would not touch it, but to each his own. Get out there and enjoy it.

Made one of my short list of lucky shots with one of those.

When we were 17 a friend had one at my uncles ranch/feedlot/catfish farm near Lake Whitney (Google Earth "GJ Roberts Lake" for what's left of it) We were at one of the 5 acre catfish tanks and there were some mud hens sitting on it. He said here it is. I said well lets see how it shoots. I snap shot it over the vinyl top of my old 67 Cougar without sights or really even pointing at any thing other than the middle of the tank and a mud hen a bit over 75 yards out rolled over dead.

"Yep. Shoots great." Handed it back to him and politely declined to shoot again.

Nothin' wrong with that Boss.

Shoot it and see.

The 'Long Tom' OM has eluded me thus far, as has the 4-5/8". Seems a fondness for 5-1/2 and 6-1/2 here up nort'.
