Bullets for Browning 53, 32-20
Looking for a bullet for this very short throated rifle. With 85gr Hornady XTP's, the bullet pushes back well past the crimp grove when chambered. Any ideas on a available to purchase bullet designed for a rifle? Speer Gold Dots, same story. Thanks

The one a friend hastakes the factory load alright and that seems to be very similar to the Lyman 3118, how does yours do with that? Would give me a better frame of reference. ALL of my .32-20 is now loaded with Lyman 3118.

Coming close to agreeing completely. Be nice to be able to shoot some heavy LBT's in it.

Open to suggestions on qualified men to do the job.....doubt there are any new barrels to be had, so.....
i would buy or rent a throating reamer and do it myself. i
have little mechanical skill, but i did it on a 44 magnum....the reamer attaches to a hand held driver right out of your tool set.....i turned it a bit, tried chambering the rounds, shaved some more.....took about 20 minutes and has been great ever since.

They are the Browning factory repair shop for obsolete firearms, or at least they used to be. I understand they do good work, although their rate card seems a bit pricey, especially in light of two way shipping.
Neat gun, for sure, that begs for optimizing.

Got into the same thing on the Marlin 1894. Seems the throat on the reamers the factory uses are non-existent. The solution was to have the chamber throated. It was done by Reggie Nonneman in Grant City Mo.
Now it will digest nearly any type bullet and has opened up a whole new realm of performance for the 32-20. In the little Marlin with a 20" barrel, I was shooting 120's at 2200+ and 135's at 2020 fps. Considering the 120's are right on the heels of the 7.62x39 while using 17 grains of powder, is pretty interesting.
