Make for great feedback on one's range estimation when shooting ground squirrels. :) A good scope on an accurate Ruger 10-22 for fast follow up shots and a good supply of 22 LR make for a great opportunity to shoot at unknown distances. After a few hundred shots, the hits were almost as frequent as the misses. The coyotes and magpies ate well.
Forgot to mention...
they also help in spotting hits when using a sixgun, a Ruger OMSS in this case. The fact that ground squirrels tend to be stupid helps too, as they stay visible far longer than one would expect under incoming fire.

Where were you at? The ground squirrels will be going down for the year pretty quick.

That's what they were telling me, which is probably why they were so active - tanking up for a long winter. We were in Moffat County, staying with longtime friends and supporters of our mission work. It was a great time to catch up and also spend time in the backwoods of Colorado. We put my small game license to good use. :)
Glad to see you're getting some trigger time!
