Road Trip
Directly after Labor Day I'd like to drive solo [Barbara is staying home on this one] the northern border from Minnesota to Washington, perhaps to Neah Bay. I'll be mostly camping in my truck to keep expenses down. I like to stay as close to the northern border as possible though I will go south to Rt. 5 & Rt. 2 in ND & MT. I have no time restrictions. [love retirement]
At this point nothing is really set in stone so I'll consider anything you throw out from roads, fishing, varmints, camping, food, etc.
Can't help you but
sounds like a neat trip! Take lots of pics for us!
My grandad used to fish out of Neah bay. He spent a lot of
time up in the Cascades. He took me to the mouth of the Ducabush River, he had built a couple permitted cabins up the Ducabush. He hiked in a fished and hunted up there after the war. It's nice, but wet, country. It sounds like a great trip.

This year the Pacific North WET, is not! We are in a 100% droughth. As bad here west of the Cascades as east of them. I spent some time in Neah Bay a couple years back, several places to camp, but be careful on highway 112 west of Port Angeles, WA. Sequim Bay State Park east of me is nice but fills on weekends. Between Port Angeles and Neah Bay are several small towns where you might find a camp site and park, don't pick up hitchhikers, there's a prison at Clallam Bay! Take the North Cascades drive, think it's Hwy 20, beautiful, but pay attention to the state travelers web site for fire closures. Highway 2/28 from Spokane to Wenatchee is a nice drive thru farm county and the rim rock areas.

Sir, if your route takes you through the metro area of..
Minnesota, that is, St. Paul and Minneapolis, I would be pleased to buy you dinner. We are VERY urban here (much to my dismay) but if you have lodging, you needn't worry about supper.
Sounds like a grand adventure.
if I can be of help with route planning out here
