$4,725 nice?
by Norm, Wednesday, July 01, 2015, 09:14 (3424 days ago) @ SIXGUNNER
A 4" Colt Python Elite just sold on Gunbroker for $4,725. The starting bid was $4,000 with no reserve.
For that I could buy 8 S&W Model 27's.....

And to tell the truth, I would much rather have a nice S&W 27 than a Python. Despite all the hype about the Python, I've found that a $100 trigger job by a good gunsmith will produce a Model 27 (or Model 19) with a better, smoother trigger than any Python, and accuracy is every bit as good, if not better, than a Python.
People can pay stupid amounts for the Colt name, but I'm not not willing to play that game......
collector vs. user

For a user you are probably better off to get a 586 or 686 anyway.
It is hard to understand the value that people place on some items, I suspect someone paying big bucks for a Python is wanting it for a collector, not a user. I don't mind collectors if you have sentimental connection with them, otherwise I am more interested in users.
