Price Check on a Browning Hi-Power

I have a yen to own a Browning Hi-Power and I saw one at a show this weekend. It was a T-series, supposedly from the 1960s (Serial No. T176xxx). Fixed sights, one magazine. There was a very slight bit of blue wear at the muzzle end of the slide, one scratch about 1/8 inch long on the slide and a pinprick sized pit above the trigger guard on the frame. Grips had a couple of small nicks on the bottom of the wood. Overall, I'd rate the gun at 95%.
Asking price was $899, which seemed to be about $150-200 higher than Blue Book.
We seldom see them around here. What are they going for out n the real world?
Price Check on a Browning Hi-Power
Hi-Power prices seem to be all over the board lately, but I agree with you that the price quoted is too high. New Hi-Powers are going for around $750 (see CDNN). I've seen excellent condition Hi-Powers at the gun show from $600 to over $1000, and the higher priced ones just don't sell. I consider a reasonable price for a 95% plus condition Hi-Power to be $600 to $700. The "Made in Belgium assembled in Portugal" using cast frames are the best shooting Hi-powers available and are made of far harder steel than the earlier "Made in Belgium" guns.
Many people trying to sell guns these days seem to either be on a fishing expedition to see if they can find a sucker, or look at the inflated prices on the internet for guns that just don't sell and think "Mine's better than that one so I'll ask more...".
I love Hi-Powers and have several, but I wouldn't pay over $650 for an excellent used one....

Only the 98%+ Belgian guns will crack $900. Anything less in condition will drop in price like a rock because the collectors don't want them, and the MKIIIs are far better using guns.

I bought a Mark III ANIB about three years ago for $575. Great shooter. Priced around here (Tennessee) are still running from $500-$800 - sometimes the older ones are priced much higher than NIB.
CDNN has the polished blue 75th Anniversary Edition for $750 with checkered coco stocks and an extra mag, and the matte-finish MK III with plastic grips for $700. New catalog came in today's mail.
The High Power is a classic, and still the premier fighting handgun IMHO.
