KEITH SIXGUNS ARE SOLD!
THEY WERE AUCTIONED FROM 8:10-8:55 AM MTN TIME THIS MORNING. THE #5 BROUGHT $70,000; THE CORBETT RIFLE $230,000.
KEITH SIXGUNS ARE SOLD!
That's awful cheap for the #5, considering what it represents. Problem is, countless numbers of active shooters and collectors under 40 years old, don't even know who Elmer is. We're gettin' old, JT...

BOY AREN'T WE! I EXPECTED IT TO GO FOR $100,000
KEITH SIXGUNS ARE SOLD!
Jack is right about that getting older. Just mention Bill Jordan in fancy gun shop. They'll gladly direct you towards the camoflauge section just as soon as you do.
Let's face it, we're now living in a world of polymer bottom feeders with the metal parts coated in the greatest and lastest bake on finish. And, all we yearn for is blued steel and walnut.

Amen...the linkages, books, the gun magazine articles...
the whole late 19th thru the first 3/4 of the 20th century are becoming that famous dust on the wind. What a glorious time it has been; in a way -- a world standard for citizens and sportsmen -- my personal Golden Age.
KEITH SIXGUNS ARE SOLD!
Do we know who purchased the #5? Would be nice if it stayed with one of single action fans we know and love.

Those numbers.....
....are about half of what I had guessed.

Doc?
OLD GUNWRITER QUIZ. NO FAIR GOOGLING!
WHO KNOWS WHO THESE MEN WERE? CHAUNCEY THOMAS; ASHLEY HAINES; KENT BELLAH; DUKE ROBERTS; DAN COTTERMAN; WALTER ROGERS; GENE WEST.
OLD GUNWRITER QUIZ. NO FAIR GOOGLING!
I know CHAUNCEY THOMAS; KENT BELLAH; DAN COTTERMAN; and I think I remember GENE WEST.
.edited to add that I knew Cotterman better when he wrote for motorcycle magazines, you should have known Kent, and Chauncey I've only heard of from Outdoor Life but never really read.
Had to google Gene West, I guess I should recall his articles, but sadly I dont. I knew Kent was from Guns magazine, but I'm embarrassed to admit I thought he was an editor of yours in the distant past. I only turned 60 yesterday, still a youngster.

so many at one time
there were so many sold at one time, I wondered if that would water down the bidders. I've attended antique auctions with my wife and it seemed like lots of things sold cheap while a small percentage sold for good prices. An auction running through 600 items in one day makes my eyes glaze over.
OLD GUNWRITER QUIZ. NO FAIR GOOGLING!
Chauncey Thomas wrote for American Rifleman and discovered Elmer Keith. He introduced E.M.K. to the readership back in the 20s, Kent Bellah was the editor of Handloader, I think. I don't know anything about the others.
OLD GUNWRITER QUIZ. NO FAIR GOOGLING!
Dan Cotterman is the one I know - I read a lot of his stuff and also the American Reloaders Association.
OLD GUNWRITER QUIZ. NO FAIR GOOGLING!
Knew most of them thru mail and or phone, but not C THOMAS...
Amen...the linkages, books, the gun magazine articles...
AMEN John......
knew first writer only
.
CHAUNCEY THOMAS WAS KEITH'S FIRST EDITOR @ AMERICAN RIFLEMAN
THAT MAKES HIM EVEN OLDER THAN YOU AND I!
