Neat picture posted on Facebook yesterday.

The local historical society posted it. They described the young man as "Sheriff" of Olpe, Kansas, a small town near my place. My guess is he was city marshal. The sixgun appears to me to be a Smith & Wesson double action and judging from the size, probably a .44. This picture was probably taken around 1900. Did a little research and turned out I represented his daughter in contested estate proceedings 15 or so years ago.
