Stainless ROA gripframe options?

by Josh Maloley, Sunday, December 21, 2014, 18:09 (3565 days ago)

I have a stainless Old Army, and I'd very much like to swap out the gripframe to the square-backed Dragoon style (either brass or stainless).

1) What are my options? I believe that Ruger Old Model gripframes will fit as a direct swap - right? But there were no stainless OMs - Right? And New Model gripframes will fit with a modification to allow for a trigger return spring - Right? And at some point someone was making aftermarket brass gripframes, but I cant seem to locate any now.

Does anybody have a source for a Brass or Stainless Dragoon gripframe?

Are there other parts that require changing, like the trigger?

Thanks for any help you can offer. - JM.

You could try Matt PA for a grip frame. Converting to a OM trigger return spring is simple. All other parts should work. J.Michael

Perhaps Power Custom

I find their website too fussy and hard to navigate but.....

They make a modified OM trigger that allows a NM gripframe to be fitted to an OM. I was considering building a 3 screw Flat Top Bisley 357 and did some research on the subject.
