Shooting IDF M855 out of a DCM target gun...
Over the weekend my son and I shot a couple of hundred rounds of IDF Green Tip out of my AR15 Service Rifle match gun. It is shooting machine that will throw almost any decent ball into close to an inch and real match ammo much better. Clean, dirty, cold, hot and in between it will shoot.
Ammo was twenty year old IDF M855 green tip picked up way back in the day of cheap military surplus ball. We were both able to hold "Expert" level groups on a reduced range target...I am only able to shoot 100 yards off my deck.
Maybe 10% of the cases showed blown primers. Function and accuracy of the rifle were perfect but clearly this was an over pressure load in the match chamber and I will shoot up the rest of in in my rifles with M16 spec chambers.
No big deal but should I consider the cases with blown primers ruined or are they worth the prep work to see if the primer pockets are too loose to work.
I have loaded a lot of ammo thru the years but have not run across this. Should I mess with them or just throw them away?
