For all you guys (and gals out there
I have been going to the same gastroenterologist for 15 years, getting my checkups and colonoscopies regularly just as he recommended, and trusting him with my gut health with no worries. I like the guy. He was always competent and professional, but friendly, and if somebody is going to do stuff like that to you it helps if it's somebody you like and trust.
He has closed down his practice and is winding up his affairs. Diagnosed a few weeks ago with colon cancer, stage 4. Likely only has a few more weeks. Apparently while keeping his patients safe from this nasty killer, he neglected to do the same for himself. This is a crying damm shame. I simply cannot believe it. This whole community is grieving.
You guys PLEASE get your checkups regularly. Colonoscopies aren't fun, but they will save your life if you get one every five years or so. I ain't got enough friends that I can afford to lose any more. And if you're inclined, please send up a prayer for Doctor Donald Cole of Lebanon, Tennessee.
