Off topic - Slingshots. Anybody with any experience?
I was thinking for silent vermin eradication in the burbs they might be an interesting alternative. I was wondering which were good and which were junk.
Ah! Check these:

He makes great slingshots - comes from a riflery background, and taught himself slingshotting from that perspective.
We have a pair of his - a polymer Ranger and a G10 Sniper - I prefer the Sniper design.
Watch his videos. Once you get past the production quality, they're pretty informative. We were able to hit 30 foot shots within a few minutes by following his MOA.
Now we keep our eyes peeled for spherical marbles when we're out and about. You will, too.
See you suggest marbles, do the balls out of ball bearings
Not work or just your preference? I've always used metal ball bearing balls you can get them fairly cheap that are pea to marble sized.
From the videos some at least appear to be distinctly right
Handed from the finger grooves on the grip. Are they reversible or are there some where it does not matter?

Ball bearings or cast (or swaged) lead balls will work just fine. Current ammo is 36 cal lead cast from recovered range lead in an Italian brass mold. Works a treat.
A buddy of mine grew up using Wrist Rockets and...
got pretty good. His favorite projectile is a 5/16" hex nut. He says the 1/4" is too light and the 3/8" too heavy. The hardware store sells 'em by the pound...no need for Grade 8 or stainless or anything fancy.
Lots of trains come by here and there's taconite pellets waiting to be picked up by the tons likely. They are a bit irregular but I expect they'd work fairly well.
We like lead too, and wing nuts, and rocks
But marbles can be had in interesting colors which helps the boys see 'em in flight.
Best bet is to buy in bulk online, or front a florist or florist supply joint.

I don't see why they couldn't be flipped. You'd just have to reverse the band and basket.
Very comfortable and a far cry from the olden pea shooters of my youth - shooting "through" rather than "over".
I found it interesting that the guy was shooting with the
Slingshot held sideways.
at one time Michael's stores sold them in bulk too.
,
Not yet, don't think they hit Polaris dealers until Fall
Oh, wait...
Slingshots. Someone with lots of experience?
This fella seems to have it down pretty well.

There is no doubt that if I would spend some time I could learn to hit things with my old wrist rocket.
It is old enough that I am on my 3rd set of bands though it sits more time than it is being shot
I ran across mine the other day. I am sure it needs new
Bands. Haven't shot it in a dozen or more years.
It works. Although it's easy enough to make good hits
using either approach, he builds a sighting notch into the sides of his designs - essentially like an old M&P rear or hog wallow - which adds to the repeatability factor. Also, bands can be mounted either way on his, for "through" or "over" shooting. Really versatile.
Then on top of that, there are all manner of hand and finger positions, draw technique, etc... lots of fun, especially smacking stuff HARD with a big projectile.
Mine is now part of my overnight/outdoors kit, for several reasons.
Nice. I'll keep an eye out for you!

At FT Hunter-Liggett we used bulk purchase nuts (not the bolts) in wrist-rockets to deal with the ground squirrel population. Not exactly permitted but you don't want the little boogers in your hooch.

Blowguns.....
you might wanna check 'em out. Cold Steel use to have them. They are extremely accurate having various darts available. We've take lots of vermin with ours including a raccoon, squirrels, chipmunks, lizards, etc. No noise
