Smith and Wesson Grips for 44special N-frame
Some time back I bought a Smith and Wesson 44 Special, model 21-4 which has the very small S&W grips which makes it more difficult to shoot. I am torn between getting one of the Tyler T-grip adapters or going to a more complete wooden grip. If I go with the wood I would like to find some like were used on the Model 21-1 used in marked for Thunder Ranch, special run. Never have found and/or can not remember who made these or even if they were ever offered on the open market. Does anyone know who or where this style of grip is made or sold? As an aside I also have another which matches this one in 45ACP and Auto Rim, using half or full moon clips I would like to get similar grips for as well. This one is the Model 22-4. I haven't used these for over 7 years and would like to put some wear on them before I get too old to do so. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Alfred John

I believe the grips on the 21-4 Thunder Ranch model were made by Ahrends.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am not certain if Ahrends Grips supplied them or now but will make contact with them and see what is what. They do make some really nice grips and nice woods as well. Hope you have a great night and weekend. Thanks once again. AJ

I really like Ahrends grips. Last set I ordered I left out if I wanted finger groove stocks or not and received a very nice phone call from Mrs. Ahrends. She said the last pair I ordered was not for finger grooves and just wanted to check before they went into production. I will order more from them. I really like their Cocobolo wood.
I ask them not to put the final finish since I prefer to finish them myself.
