Defense loads for Springfield XDS 45 -
Any suggestions? Just picked up this little fella this weekend.
Defense loads for Springfield XDS 45 -
I want to see how the little fella is to handle with full power loads.
I have used Winchester 230 JHPs, Buffalo bore hardball
PMC hardball 230 rnl handloads and PMC 185s JHPs and the all feed well. It IS short for ejecting loaded rounds.

I use Hornady 200gr +P in my XDs. (and my G36)
Only with the XDs, sometimes the first round from the magazine (loading the gun) hangs up. I think it's me, not the gun, because it feeds them just dandy, it's just that manual first round on occasion. So my 7 round reload mag is 230 Golden Sabers.
230 Golden Saber...
is one of my all-time favorite ACP loads. Feeds about like ball and still expands some even from shorter barrels. I also like the old WW/USA 230 JHP, too.
FWIW I shot an IDPA match this weekend with it.
Non sanctioned club match anyway. The "gun" ran flawless, I didn't. trying to be too gentle short seated the extended mags 3 times (trying to be careful not to over insert them)
Can't say how I did really because they screwed up the scoring. I got a no shoot on a far-ish target and was given an almost 40 second penalty. lmao I did it for trigger time, so I didn't bother having them straighten the scores out.
All and all I was real happy with how went. The "gun" wasn't what stopped me from finishing higher, just the fact that two of my mags held half as many rounds as everyone else in CDP.
Others have the manual first round problem, too
I think the gun is just sensitive to how you get the first round in. One thing I've learned about my XDs is not to be gentle with it. It takes a firm hand in every respect.
Haven't run any live rounds through it but it does it with
Snap caps too.
Dittos on 230 gr. Golden Saber...

I know how far one will penetrate...
the arm of a couch...don't ask me how I know:(
after I bought my Glock 36
did some penetration and expansion tests using what factory ammo I could find at the time and a whole lotta gallon water jugs. For my purposes, Hornady Critical Defense works best; FWIW, YMMV.

Short barrel 45acp Gold Dots. Correct ogive to feed properly in the fussy XD, low flash powder for night use, and bullet designed to expand properly at short barrel velocities.
Others have the manual first round problem, too
My Micro DE did the same thing, slicked up the feed ramp a little seemed to help.
I use Georgia Arms 230 grain Gold Dot HPs
They call them "bonded core" or some such, as they were asked to stop using the Gold Dot name on their loaded ammo, but that is what the bullets are. I have not done extensive testing. They are what I have been carrying for years in my full-size 1911 and have proven to be accurate and reliable in it. Tested them in the XDs and they were very accurate and reliable in it, so that is what I went with. Have some in it as we speak.
Thank you - good to know. I order from them fairly often

The ones I see are plus p - are they the ones?
