6". SS Security Six -- $650 asking - offered $600
Seller says little use evident in forcing cone and cylinder throat. Rates it in excellent mechanical condition. Wooden grips un-chipped. Some holster wear. Waiting to consult w/his partner.
It seems a bit pricey as I was thinking more in 450-500 range. Wanted to check if the 'asking' is congruent with other current prices for that model. However, they don't make 'em anymore, and it's part of my 'heritage plans' for the nieces and nephews....
So, unless someone hollers 'scalped', guess I'll spring, The 650 includes shipping and FFL. Twenty on my end to pick it up.
Still trying to pry my Brockman .357 Marlin out of the guy i sold it too, some years ago....he never shot it, but he's an 'accumulator', so the prospects aren't great. It's pretty hard to hurt, so I could live with a carbon steel bbl. if I had too.
I think that is awfully steep
I have had mine a long time but I would be thinking the same as you. You might look at gunbroker.com to get an idea.
$400 to $450 in my area (nm)

Pass.
The Security Six hierarchy seems to be:
Most Desireable - 2 3/4"
Most Common - 4"
Also Ran - 6"
A little patience will turn up another for much less.
6" command premium due to fewer out there, but...
As suggested already, watch GB a bit to see what most folk are willing to pay.
Local standard blued run near $400 now instead of $250 pre-panic years ago and buyer keeping prices up.
But a 6" stainless is gonna run more if seller knows what he has.
6". SS Security Six -- $650 asking - offered $600
New ones on Gun Broker run $589. Seller is assuming his is "new" enough to ask full retail.
6". SS Security Six -- hmmmmmm

Saw this and thought of you fellas here. Not mine nor do I know the guy but his feed back is excellent. $415 shipped for a security 6, 6" barrel.

If I had to give up all my handguns but one, I would keep my
SS 4" Security Six. Don't shoot it much any more but it isn't going anywhere.
More like $400-425 TOPS in my area and that's WITH
the box. 6" guns don't get the nod from users around here and no box is a big thing for collectors who would want an excellent to fine condition gun with the box. I could likely move it relatively quickly at $375-399. That is, in about 3-4 weeks. Just about everyone is getting handguns for concealed carry or maybe "bear" "hunting". Relatively little in between.

If I had to give up all my handguns but one, I would keep my
Dittos. I started with one and it is the one that I'd end with if I had to. BUT I do mean IFF I HAD TO.

but one,..pretty much what I'm thinking...

My first centerfire handgun and I sure don't intend to give
ANY of them up either
6". SS Security Six -- $650 asking - offered $600
One of those was my first centerfire handgun way back around 87ish. I ended up trading it for a 4" GP100 as I was entering law enforcement at the time. Wish I still had that one, and my first issued duty gun, a 4" stainless Security Six.
Now that we've owned 'everything', so to speak....
perhaps there is an appreciation of rugged Basics. Y'r location nay affect what you choose, but there appears to be some desire for simply built, low maintence, reliable tools.
