Oddball old .22's
I scored a couple of old .22's this week; a Star Model F and High Standard Sentinel with the 4” barrel and George Effing Patton white plastic grips.
The Star showed a preference for Remington Thunderbolts, gobbling up the hundred I had on hand as fast as I could load the magazine. It did not particularly like Federal bulk HP. The Sentinel ate everything I threw at it. Both guns shot substantially high and I set about lowering the rear sight on each. Both required deepening the notch to accomplish this and I used Dremel wheels stacked for an exact fit to each notch.
This proved a worthwhile effort as both guns are easily minute-of cathead at 15 yards, where initial zeroing took place. These targets represent a full load of Federal 36 grain bulk HP from each gun.

Great report Sarge, those are cool old plinkers. do you find any .22 ammo at your gunshop`s.???
I have a Sentinel almost identical to that
Mine is the first model (R1). Fun little gun. Mine has a pretty stiff DA trigger pull. I need to play with mine more but I hate to shoot up my 22 ammo.

Neat and fun ol' pistolas.....happy shooting....

Star Model F
I have a Star Model F. It's in real good condition other than it could probably use a recoil spring & maybe some mag springs. It is one of my favorite fun plinkers.

Nice, my first .22 was. Aluminum frame double nine. That star looks like an interesting addition to the collection. Old semi auto .22 s intrest me for some reason. Did you see where they are importing some Beretta 71s with a fake suppressor? I think it is CAI.

I have been finding it locally for $2.49 a box. It isn't always available, but I'll pick it up if I can find it under $25 a brick. That is my current limit.
Century arms is importing them.
Here is one on gunbroker.

I had the High Standard and loved it made my first hand gun kill with it. It was stolen and I never found one to replace it. It was a great little 22.
