.......with no competing bids, and at such a low price.

I feel sure it has been refinished based on the look of the side plate, but I have never seen one sell this low before. Even in poor condition these typically start around 900 and go north. Always wanted a shooter, so this will work perfectly.

That might be the snag of a lifetime. I'd have jumped on if I'd seen it.

Even more cool that it is in Bethel. Talk about middle of nowhere. Would love to hear it's story.

I've wanted one since 1966......

........which is the first time I ever saw one. The fellow who owned it was Don Morris, a real gunsmith, who had an amazing shop with lots of cool stuff. He also owned a Colt Camp Perry and one of those monster .45-70 revolvers that were being built way back when. Nice guy who was very indulgent to a gun crazy kid.

I don't recall what I used in the search engine to find this little gem, but my experience is that Gunbroker's search engine is quite bad, and I try variations and misspellings a LOT. Oh, that was the opening bid too. I bid $600 just to ante up, and thought it might go a lot higher. But in my head I kept thinking it was going to stay right there, something about the way it's listed isn't a standout.

Otony, who found replacement grips at Vintage Grips. And no, I won't be getting rid of the original grips!

I find it hard to believe I won this.......

It is really cool and I'm glad you got it.

Even if it has been dry fired or something else is "wrong" with it, it is a DEAL. Good on you!

Oh, and misspellings and such are THE way to find neat stuff on auction sites.

of those as well........one of the pleasures of 'old age' is certainly getting to finally acquire and use some of the firearms you just really wanted when you were young. there is a long list of guns i would long for, pine for, lust for, when reading gun digest etc.

and it really is fun to round some of them up and finally get to try them out.

way to go !!
