Trapdoor Carbine spotted today

At a local shop, looks like an original carbine, but I know enough to know I don't know enough. For the $399 price I don't think you can go wrong though. Looked nice and functional, sights look good, stock has a small crack at the front of the saddle ring and has had some repairs. Receiver dated 1873. They have it on their books so they are treating it like a regular firearm.

That was a good deal, even if it'd been a cut down rifle. Love shooting the trapdoors. My Dad got an 1884 rifle, like new in 1939 at a boy scout camp for $2.50. He still has it and a couple of years ago we shot it for the first time. Great fun though the trigger is a beast!
