This June I must renew my teacher certification and need to get some professional development points.

I really love going there. It is an amazing place and it is nice to be around fellow teachers. In my current venue I am teaching in a rehab and often it can suck the life out of you.

A break in routine is a good thing.

Working with people can be quite rewarding, and very draining. Thanks for doing what you do.

I suggest you try some VESI online courses

I finished a 3 credit course in less than a week. 4 chapters of readings then a 30 question multiple choice test. The class I took was called "Understanding Aggression." No papers or projects, just read, pass a test with at least a 70% and go on to the next section. I spent a couple hours on some days over the week and got done with it. The cost is somewhere around $400 and my district paid about 10% of the cost. I used them to renew my teaching certificate last year.

Thanks for the heads up.

I am not sure what it is in Alaska but for Massachusetts I need to acrue 150 points or hours every five years. In my setting I have to find it all on my own.

I love Fort Ticonderoga. Went there every summer

as a kid, the highlight of most summers, and it had not lost its charm for me the last time was a there a couple of years ago. I would live near there but for the gun laws and taxes.

south of Sabbath Day Point at which place the Brits once encamped while on their way to attack the French and killed an Indian or two skulking around the camp. Said kill site was said to be where we had our outhouse... Great fun to go to the john at 2 in the morning! Of course Grandma Flint's family had great fun giving "odd" esoteric names to things. Boats had names such as Winona and Nokomis and the original camp building was called the Windigo house. Bought in 1884 the family sadly had to sell the camp as taxes rose and the number of owners capable of paying said taxes and maintenance declined.

Here's a photo from the lake. The main building is above the dock, the little 2 room sleeping building was called the dovecote:

This is my grandmother in Winona (there was a sister boat which went who knows where, Winona is in the Mystic Seaport Museum):

Sorry if I got carried away but I have very fond memories of that place. I was very fortunate to have the family I had...

This area is beautiful. It is hard to believe it is connected to the mess in Albany and NYC in any way, shape or form.

As I sit here at a coffee shop I hear country music and see mountains in the background. A beautiful region.

Yesterday a big bobcat ran across the road in front of my truck. Last night I saw three deer on the exit road and some wild turkey.

The people in this area are very nice and friendly as well. This conference is a much needed break from the baloney of the world.
