Looking for a used Commander length 1911 45 barrel.
I traded a Charter Arms Pitbull today for a Frankengun today and don't trust the looks of the barrel that is missing one locking lug. It's a Series 80 style full size frame that had the grip cut to Officer's length. The slide is an Argentine, cut to just under Commander length, with a Ruger New Model adjustable rear sight. Short of putting a new top end on this, I'd like to see if a Commander length barrel can be installed and restore the second locking lug.
That looks dangerous. I like it.
In your shoes I'd try a Roto-Forged Commander barrel

Poo. Website says out of stock.
Maybe a Ceiner .22 conversion kit and be done with it.

Wow! You find the oddest stuff!!
A silly question, but could a Gov't length barrel be cut down to fit? It wouldn't be match grade, but I have cut and crowned several barrels that have produced good accuracy with nothing more than a hacksaw, file, and case mouth deburring tool.
If not, I have a complete Gov't length upper end that I could possibly be talked out of. It sometimes rides on a 30's era Llama 9mm Largo. I recently picked up a 6" .38 Super barrel that I just facet do my buddy to thread for my 9mm can. I'm hoping to load Supers subsonic and have some suppressed 1911 fun!
I suppose it probably could.
I'm wondering why the forward locking lug was removed to begin with. The only reason I can see is to allow the slide to travel a little further back.
Shoot me an email with a pic and price.
