Dang Cable! You find the best stuff; wasn't there a recent article in "RIFLE" or "HANDLOADER" that spoke to the 50-95?

I do like pump rifles, tho I own none right now; my grail search is a Rem 760 in .257Bob at a reasonable price. Mebbe seeing Uncle Bud drop everything, including jumped pheasants, with his .270 had something to do with the lust!
bob
wow, he was amazing ! i will keep an eye out for one for

That looks like an awful lot of fun and a very cool piece of history. I have never shot a large frame Lightning, or a small one, but have put quite a few rounds through a medium frame in 44/40 after repairing it's extractor. It was great fun to use it for a cowboy action match and take out squirrel hunting. Would love to pick up one of the reproductions in 357.
i have one in 44/40, that had to be extensively

reworked but now it shoots like a dream.
i have never had or used a small frame 22 lightning......i really would like one, but good ones are rare.
The one I used...

Has a perfect bore and is scary accurate. I had a friend with a collection of Lightnings in all sizes, never got to shoot any of his though and he has passed on, with his grandson selling off everything at auction. Unfortunately, I had no where near sufficient funds to pick up any of his Colts. Look forward to seeing some reports on shooting yours, on the range and in the field.
WOW! I like that! Nice Alaskan rifle!

Should be a great moose bear gun & cartridge combo.

have an original model 1876 in 50/95.
teddy roosevelt had one when he was living out west and it was popular until repeaters in 45/70 came along.
That is so very COOOOOL!

thanks Hobie, ,there are not too many large frame guns

out there. not many were made and not all survived of course. i have bid on the 50/95s before but they were at places that get the big money and crowds and i wasnt really in the running.
my son sure is going to inherit some unusual and hard to find items.
and i get to play with them too.

I have had the privilege of handling and even owning some pretty rare and impressive firearms. I have never, ever seen one of those. Really neat, Doc! Really neat!
thanks ! you sure have and have had some incredible guns !

i have been after one of these for years, and bid on them, but most often they went for three times or more my top bid. this one wasnt cheap, but still cost less than most original 1886 winchesters, etc are bringing these days. i will have fun with it, and i do think it will be appreciate quite nicely in the long run, as most really uncommon firearms like this do
