Idiots on the internet
I noted an idiot on eBay was trying to sell a 45 Colt cylinder for a Blackhawk and said it will also fit 45 acp with moon clips?!?!?

Hopefully buyers will know better, but someone will believe him.....
Fortunately he hasn't had any takers YET

Well I hate to break it to you but….
A Blackhawk 45 colt cylinder will accept a moon clip full of 45 Acp.
I used to use moon clips all the time reaming the cylinders, I'd inset a moon clip full of empties when I'd hone them after reaming to protect the headspacing/shoulder. (on the Acp cylinders that is)
Never installed one in a gun though to see if there was enough ratchet past the clip to still function.
I figured you could do that but don't know how that is going
To work with a single action.
I have long wanted to build a Sedgley-style single
action with a lift-out cylinder on a Beretta Stampede that would work with 45acp moon clips.
That way I might be able to keep up with Jim Taylor on unloading a single action.

I would have to look and see and doe some measuring, BUT I think a little lathe work may just allow it to work.
Never really thought about it.
will work if you do it right
The .45 Colt has thin rims so there is not much headspace there. An ACP rim plus thickness of the clip would be too thick to fit. I believe when they modify double action cylinders to work with and without moon clips they leave part of the perimeter of each chamber high enough to support a case by itself, and the rest of the perimeter gets cut down to clear the moon clip.
"don't know how that is going to work with a single action"
Slowly.
The OM Blackhawk 45 Colt does not have the room to
reinsert the cylinder filled with 45 ACP in moon clips. NM Blackhawks, I don't own any, could be different I guess but I doubt it.
I'm guessing some lathe work would fix that
But why bother?
