It's good to see they are reaping the rewards.

"douchebag" is right!

I get and respect a bar not wanting guns inside

Guns and alcohol don't mix after all, but calling guys out in such a incredibly unprofessional way just isn't very smart to say the least. I would love to see how the place is doing here in about 6 months after this little rocket scientist sign washes out.

I figure if you can handle your booze and go have a beer with your heater still on you but you don't cause issues you probably are not who the sign was for anyways...

I'd guess he's trolling for bidness . . .

Elmer Keith mixed alcohol and firearms

in moderation of course, and his shooting improved. I figure if you can have a drink and drive a car safely, you can have a drink and handle a gun safely. Not that an attorney wouldn't have a field day with it afterwards.

an old trick from the Bullseye shooters, no kidding

Was a (1) shot of your favorite medicinal hundred proof bourbon right when your relay was called.

By the time the first "ready" was singing out, things seemed to settle down a bit.

For some reason unbeknownst to God and man, by the late 80's, the military was quite serious about no alcohol past midnight if you were shooting the next day.

A couple buddies and I experimented a bit on a camping trip

on private property (and just the three of us - group each of us trusts his wife and life with). We compared groups and long-range hits on steel before a drink and after. Our shooting improved noticeably after the drink. I think we were using 80 or 90 proof whiskey. This was after two of us had read and discussed Elmer Keith relating a team at Camp Perry sneaking a drink in before their matches and clobbering everyone else's scores. We wanted to see if he was right. He was.

it went on at least well into the late 70's

My coach at the AMU (Nation Champion Bonnie Harmon http://www.militarymarksmanship.org/tapsharmon.htm {geez, he was younger than I am when he was my coach!}) was shooting the breeze with us one day and the trick was mentioned in passing.

When I was taking welding class in my apprenticeship, I found I was much smoother if I had a beer or two before class. I had an hour to kill between work and class and a group of us hit a local bar one night. I was normally very tense and rigid when welding, but that night after having a couple, my welds were much smoother and looked a lot better!
