Got the "guitar case" in today. Not heavy duty but looks pretty good to me. Barely fits the SKS (mine is not a folding stock). I think it'll work
Not bad for $60 and free shipping.
What's the over all length of your SKS?

My main interest is for my match rifle, checking into hotels and all. It doesn't have a collapsible stock.

Slightly over 42" - a hair under 42" is really the limit for this bag.
printing.

It's going to take some wads of paper or something to fill out that case. That EBR is fer shure not going to look like a guitar in there.

There is foam padding on the bottom side that helps with it

Why not get a folding stock or an orginal short wood stock?

tactical guitar case part 2

I learned long ago about guitar cases being a viable option as a way to tote a rifle. Of course, having owned guitars for the better part of most of my life it was only natural for folks to see me with a guitar case.
Aside from the one you purchased (which by the way is very nice), guitar cases can be picked up from pretty dang cheap, to hundreds of dollars. Being in the area you're in (Nashville if I recall correctly), pawns shop's should have tons of them. Buy, alter, be happy!

good idea - I could probably come up with a longer case that

Way. Matthew has resorted to that before. Hes been playing guitar since his early teens and several times has grabbed a guitar case cause it was handy. Matthew has "played the Ryman" by the way - not for real, his guitar teacher would rent it out one night between Christmas and New Years so the kids could put on a show.
