SBR question

Thinking of a short barrel for my folding stock 1022. What kind of expense and red tape are we talking? I live in TN if that makes any difference.

Two ATF Form 1s signed by you local Chief LEO, Sheriff, Chief of Police etc. Don't know how TN does it. In Kaintuck, the Sheriff does everything, the po-po point in the general direction of the county court house and say "He does it". In Newport News it's the sheriff too.

2 sets fingerprints on correct ATF ori addressed cards. You can roll your own ( I did once and they passed) or have your local constabulary do it.

Passport sized and framed - doesn't have to be passport quality just size - color photos of you, no older than 1 year. (one glued to each form).
You can take them yourself, or if you're good at it, a digital pix can be printed directly on the form. Again, I did it once, just to see if it would fly and it did.

$200.00 check made out to ATF

Signed citizenship form (only one copy needed per firearm) certifying yourself to be a U.S. citizen.

6 month to 1 year wait.

Get approved form back

Whacken sie the barrel (please not before).

These are the high points.

Having dome the same, it's a pain in the buttocks.

I can get into more detail if you want to do it.

thanks you've told me what I need

I didn't realize it was the same cost as a silencer. That is not going to be worth the effort for my purposes.

Just put a short light barrel on it 16.25 will keep you

Unfortunately folded 16.25 ain't legal - OAL would be

About 1.5" or so under 26"

Tenn has that on the books?

by Miles Fortis ⌂ @, CIVITATES AMERICAE, Wednesday, February 05, 2014, 05:12 (3950 days ago) @ stonewalrus

unless it's a state requirement, federal 26" OAL is with the stock open

My understanding was that if it could be fired folded 26"

Still applied. This configuration can (if you are left handed).

John is right - Feds measure with the stock extended.

Makes a lot of sense, just like all the other laws/regs. State law can be more restrictive.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but the $200 tax is a one-time deal. I say this because it is a common fallacy that you have to pay this every year.

I realize that now - there is a whole lit of misinformation

Floating around.

I've been fooling around with this stuff for 30+ years

by Miles Fortis ⌂ @, CIVITATES AMERICAE, Wednesday, February 05, 2014, 18:42 (3950 days ago) @ stonewalrus

and it still gets sporty.

A lot of the Batboyz don't even have a good handle on it, but the most dangerous is a local po-po who thinks he's god's gift to earth on gun laws and regs.

making anything is $200.00

by Miles Fortis ⌂ @, CIVITATES AMERICAE, Wednesday, February 05, 2014, 05:19 (3950 days ago) @ stonewalrus

the only cheap thing is transferring an AOW @ $5.00

But they're so cute!

Especially when you out a can on the end!

That pics not mine bunk do need to build one. I've got a Form 1 going in soon for an integrally suppressed .300 blk AR barrel. They say that on e you get to be a stamp collector you just keep at least one form in the works all the time so you kind of forget about them. Then they are like a surprise when they snow up!!

And handy!

Here's mine wearing a Spectre II. AGP stock, 5.5" barrel, 27" extended, 19" folded with that can. 4lb 4oz.

Wearing an old M16 pronged flashider it is 23" extended, 15" folded. 3lb 12oz.

Looks good! What stock is that?

And handy!

AGP. I bought one of their blems. It was tight in the magwell but that was an easy fix.
