Lever-fun comparisons -- 92's
Have been weighing the Rossi's with many positive feedbacks, including Steve's Guns...So, went to site and spec'd out the upgrades offered, to pretty much leave 'no more extra's" needed. Delvered here will push roughly 900.., mebbe a bit minus.
So, went back to the gun that prompted this objective; Taylor & Company's 92 take-down, as reviewed in Gunblast; 1350.oo retail. has ABOUT EVERYTHING ONE COULD LOAD ONTO A WORKING GUN. However, working with a local long time buddy FFL holder, it may be that that price to me thru him could be subject to some serious 'final price' modification.
lets say the difference between a Steve's Loaded and the Taylor Td could be...arouind 300.00...and that would land a loaded a takedown over the Steve's Deluxe Everyservice and Sights -- with no wait for nice months to return the basic gun to have it upgraded. mind you, i have every sympathy for Steve's business needs and practices.. they are necessary for him to survive.
This 'final whittle' is proceeding at a good pace, in antiques, excess books, duplicate hand tools, etc. Too bad there can't be a inperson board Garage Sale. ;~`)
Thanks, as always.
Get a Rossi 92 out of the box and Steve's DVD
and you can do all the work yourself. I have a 92 .45 Colt that Steve did and it is great but I got it many years ago. It doesn't have the safety on the bolt.
PS - we had a couple come through the shop, one a .357 the other a .44 Mag. These were MUCH smoother out of the box than the older guns.

Was beginning to think I was Cap't Ahab...
in search of the Great Stainless Lever Action, driving my friends to distraction and exhibiting obsessive mental illness. Given some bumps in the health road [old chickens coming home to roost] and surviving a recent T-bone auto crash by a speeding driver -- well, one should be grateful to have aspirations for a future!! Many folks don't get such second chance, but must say, 'grace' is renewed daily in this household.
Will get Steve's in process, and happy gun-countering. Like it when i did it; had great fun...and a much more sedate temper. ;~`).
