As I've related, my Rem 241 does cycle the CCI

Quiet .22. After some experimentation, I think it is a happy coincidence of everything being just so. That gun with that ammo is quieter than any other gun with that ammo, I think because the action is functioning at the same time as the pressure is peaking and thus increasing bore volume and reducing the amount of gas going out the muzzle. Other rifles with the same bore length are louder. None of the self-loaders have cycled any of the Colibri ammo and no other self-loader cycles the CCI Quiet .22. Such ammo is lots of fun though!

You ought to try them out of Winchester 67 Single shot.

27 inch barrel. Our cats sneeze louder than that.

I imagine so! After reading this post I measured

the barrel on the Model 47 and it was 24" (as is the barrel on the 241). I can shoot Colibris in the basement and the wife only hears the "tink-tink" of bullets hitting the steel trap and then only when she is almost right above the trap with the TV off.

Quiet .22's

I recently picked up a Winchester 74 in .22 short. Have had a LR version of this rifle for quite a few years and. Have enjoyed it immensely. I saw this one come up at auction and decided I should get it. It's writhing a thousand of the serial number of the other one I have, so they had to be close to being in the factory at he same time. It's pretty quiet with subsonic shorts. I haven't had a good chance to test it out, but shooting a few rounds into a bucket of sand in the garage showed function just fine. I've got five hundred subsonic shorts on back order with midway, and another 300 I found locally, just have to hook up with the seller. Hopefully it'll go with me on the next range trip. 20 rounds in the but stock tube ought to keep me plinking for awhile!

Here's the auction page with better pics than I can take:

Here's the LR version, it can be quiet at times too, thanks to my machinist and the folks at Gem Tech...
