'Nother holster project
Bought another $5 holster at the little local show yesterday - a Lawrence Challenger. In decent shape but someone had cut the bottom off. Apparently it was for a 6 1/2 inch Blackhawk originally. I don't have a BH, so I tried several guns in it and found that a Government Model 1911 fit pretty well. I have wanted a 1950s retro style holster for my old .45 for some time, so I got out my tools and went to work on it.
Had to cut away the leather around the trigger guard area, dress and finish the edges, add a couple of shiny brass rivets at the top and bottom of the main seam to finish off the stiching, and make a new strap, but it came out looking rather well.
I hate to see a nice old holster beat up and neglected, and this was a good save.
The used holster box...
Is usually the first spot I check when hitting local gun shops. I've made a few great buys there. I love quality leather!
