Gun show score
Just had to brag on this find. I have been looking for a left handed Remington 788 in 6mm for years. Found one 100%, unfired. Im sure I overpaid for it, but figured, where will I ever find another. Birthdate of March 1974.
Had one many years ago and it was a tack driver. Both of my boys are lefty's as well, so this one will stay in the family forever.
That's a good'n. Those 788s seemto shoot way better than a
"discount" rifle should. I used my uncle's 766 in 243 for my first buck. He gave it to me, and my kids use it now.

Great gun and caliber -- rumor says it shot TOO well...
for Rem's marketers -- unexpectedly cut into the 700's sales, Even some BR guys were using the action. Just hearsay from memory, but they do shoot uncommonly fine.

I cannot believe I traded a 788 in .243 back in 1980 for a Universal 30 Carbine!
I was into 98 Mausers at the time and thought anything that didn't have a big claw extractor was useless. How dumb I was.

Oh, yeah, you are the only one here that ever made such a
mistake...

WELL, I certainly never did that!
twice or three or four times!
I didn't know.....
......that Universal .30 carbines had big, claw extractors?
However, I have made some awfully poor swaps that seemed like a good idea!

They have a very fast lock time due to their design. That got a lot of credit for their typical outstanding accuracy.
