Lee 358 SWC GC performance?

I bought this mould a while back and cast a couple hundred bullets. So far I've tried it over 13.5 2400. Was gonna load some up tonight and remembered the meplat is a bit wider than the 358156 but other than that they are fairly similar. I'm gonna load the Thompson bullet tonight and get a top punch for the Lee that doesn't marr the nose. Any of you guys use the Lee bullet and maybe have a recommendation for a top punch? As I type this it seems I had the same issue with the 358477 and if so I will order the top punch for it and see how it works.

Use a plain flat nose punch

There are a number of them available, or you can just use a large diameter flat nose punch too. Just so long as its flat, and doesn't touch any part of the bullet on the side of the nose. Lyman 421 would probably work if you have the cup milled off, or simply fill it with epoxy and strike it off level.

I may do that. I'd rather find one that fits if I can though. I pulled out a Lyman 358477 and compared it to the Lee and the nose is pretty much the same width except the edges of the Lyman nose are rounded slightly rather than sharp like the Lee. I'm gonna order one for the Lyman bullet and see if it works.

I use Lyman #495 for the 358477 CB. Don't have the Lee to compare with.

I'll check that out...

Gotta decide what little trinkets I might want from Midway to get to $25 so I don't have to pay the small order fee.
